The Arts Society was until recently known as  NADFAS (the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies). It was founded in 1968 and has become a worldwide organisation based on a love of the Arts in all its forms. With around 360 local Societies in the UK, mainland Europe and the Antipodes, its principal objective is the promotion and advancement of the aesthetic education of the public. Other aims include the cultivation, appreciation and study of decorative and fine arts, and the giving of aid to the preservation of our national artistic heritage for the benefit of the public. It also provides members with enormous pleasure and fun.

The Arts Society Basingstoke is a member society of The Arts Society. Our aims are to promote the appreciation of the decorative and fine arts and the preservation of our artistic heritage. Founded in 1992,The Arts Society, Basingstoke, meets monthly for lectures on a wide range of topics by experienced and highly qualified lecturers accredited by The Arts Society. There are also 2 Study Days arranged during the year at which a subject is studied in greater depth. The Society organises visits to art galleries, museums and places of historic and artistic interest. There are also longer trips in the United Kingdom and abroad.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS of the ARTS SOCIETY (Nadfas)  7th April -10th May at the Willis Museum.

Entries for this should now have been handed in but see the chairman please if you have still got work to offer. Entry form here. We have a good selection so far. Work should be brought to the Willis Museum on 4th April between 10 and 12pm. All works to be hung should arrive already mirror-plated. See instructions here.

Trip Trip Trip Trip

The next trip will be on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 to the Picasso exhibition at Tate Modern. Cost £55 for Arts Society Members £50.40 for members of the OAP Art Fund. The cost inlcudes tea/ coffee on arrival, a lecture by Ben Street, buffet lunch and timed tickets to the exhibition. Please see the visits secretary at the next lecture to book your ticket.

Young Arts:

Volunteers are needed for an Arts Society Sponsored event at the Discovery Centre, Basingstoke on 1st August 2018. Please speak with Teresa Hook.

Help children create a range of favourite book characters including a large Peter Rabbit sculpture.There are several sessions to choose from 10.30am -12noon: 1pm -2.30pm: 2.45pm -4.15pm.
