The project is no longer supported by the Victoria and Albert Museum or the Arts Society at Head Office and is currently mothballed. However, we were proud of our work at St Leonard's Church, Sherfield-on-Loddon.
The activity was originally requested and supported by the Victoria and Albert Museum, and its purpose was to promote recognition and preservation of our rich artistic heritage in places of worship, by the accurate and detailed recording of all their contents, with accompanying photographs.
Completing a Church Record can take from two to four years, resulting in an illustrated document which is presented to the church, with copies for the V&A, County Records Office, the Church Buildings Council and English Heritage Archives; it will remain the authoritative source of information on the church.
The Recording at the Church of St Leonard, Sherfield on Loddon, was completed in 2018 and a bound copy was presented to the church.
The coordinator of this project was Pamela Darker.
