DISCOVERY TRAILS.

A Discovery Trail is a question sheet which guides children and accompanying adults around a church, or an historic house and encourages them to engage with the architecture, history and furnishings. Volunteers devise a trail, writing the questions and corresponding answer sheets, following an Arts Society template but finding the individual points of interest in their church.

Basingstoke Arts Society volunteers have completed trails for the Norman churches of St Swithun, Nately Scures and St Nicholas, Newnham.

They are currently working on a trail for St Leonards, Sherfield on Loddon.

Memory trails help those older members of our communities with memory difficulties explore churches and recall the scents and touch of objects from experiences in earlier years.

New volunteers are always welcome; in the first instance please contact a member of The Committee via the contact page on this website.
