OUR VISION

THE BELIEF THAT THE ARTS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ENRICH PEOPLES’ LIVES IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO. WE WANT TO BE THE MOST INCLUSIVE AND INFLUENTIAL ARTS SOCIETY.

EXPLORE THE ARTS WITH US!

Be informed and entertained in a friendly atmosphere, through a wide-ranging programme of illustrated lectures. We are a like-minded friendly group of people of all ages and backgrounds with a common interest in the arts in all their forms. Our carefully chosen programme is diverse in its composition and is designed to challenge thinking, increase both knowledge and understanding, whilst developing a fuller appreciation of the arts in whatever form it may take.

Lectures: Eleven new lectures each season are given by eminent speakers who are expert, engaging communicators, in their chosen field. All are accredited by The Arts Society.

Zoom: For those unable to attend the lecture in person we offer the opportunity to watch the lecture from home. Registration is via a link sent out the Sunday before the lecture date.

Study Days - Special Interest: Two full days annually, led by an expert in their field, which cover a particular subject in greater depth.

Visits: These are carefully planned day visits or longer holidays, often abroad, to art galleries, museums, and places of special historic, architectural, cultural, or topical interest. Many of the places we visit are not generally open to the public. 

Arts Volunteering: Trails of Discovery, Heritage Volunteers & Arts Volunteering. The Arts Society Basingstoke currently supports the Arts, whilst also giving our members rich opportunities for volunteering. We have worked with local schools, sixth forms and FE colleges creating exhibitions at Basingstoke Train Station and The Willis Museum & Sainsbury Gallery, Basingstoke.
