 TRAILS OF DISCOVERY

All trails now have a QR code attached ready to scan

A Discovery Trail is a question sheet which guides children or other interested parties,  around a church, or a historic house or other building and encourages them to engage with the architecture, history and furnishings. Volunteers devise a trail, writing the questions and corresponding answer sheets, following an Arts Society template but finding the individual points of interest in their place of interest.

The Arts Society Basingstoke volunteers have completed trails for the Norman churches of St Swithun, Nately Scures and St Nicholas, Newnham and most recently St James' Church Bramley and The Church of St Mary, The Blessed Virgin, Hartley Wespall.

Memory trails help those older members of our communities with memory difficulties explore churches and recall the scents and touch of objects from experiences in earlier years.

New volunteers are always welcome: John Craze has stepped back from this activity and we are actively seeking a member to take over the responsibility. This is an interesting post. Pease contact a member of The Committee via the contact page on this website, if you feel you could offer assistance or have ideas for a new project.
